Well, didn’t life just get a bit crazy. Being at UNSW a lot, while trying to get my business accelerating and doing my MBA. Not to mention the 3 busy kids. I don’t think I’m going to beat myself up too much about the other goals I’ve missed on.
But in really great news, the misses haven’t been too bad so far. I did get my first Dan taekwondo black belt in June. That felt GREAT, as it was the sum of more than 3 years of training.
We are in our soccer finals – semis tomorrow. Am very chuffed to report that we were minor premiers too (Champion of champions, here we come!). I am very sad that I will miss the rest of the final series, as I’m heading to Silicon Valley for a study tour for my MBA. Bad timing to say the least, so will have to leave nothing in the tank for my semi tomorrow🙂 Of course our position on the table is very little to do with me, a total team effort and a great reflection of the capabilities of our long term and new players. Fingers crossed for tomorrow!
My misses are coming up though, don’t worry about that. I think the chances of doing the half in under two hours are small to say the least. The training has not been going well, I suspect that trying to do too much has lead to some over training, and insufficient recovery (combined with some winter/cold weather laziness and weight gain and general lack of pace/push) will leave me slower than I had hoped. I am still aiming to finish in under 2h 15min though. I’m sure the remaining month of training will do the job…
And finally the Olympic distance triathlon – Noosa is still on, although the fund raising isn’t going as well as I’d hoped. I did take action on the swim, getting quite a bit of extra coaching. Perhaps that training and focus will result in a better result on that leg. I probably should cycle at least once before the race though, especially if the run will be a bit ordinary (see above). Feeling quite energised about triathlons though, getting some great energy through the Concord Club Facebook page. That might be a summer mission for me!
The volunteering is just barely fitting in – will try and get the soccer club paperwork in shape in the half day I have between exam and study tour. At least ABA squeezes into the small spaces, and I continue to counsel, mentor and train if only sporadically!
One day soon I will learn to take less on!
